Police
If you are unlucky enough to be the victim of a crime, you should report the incident as soon as possible at the nearest police station or comisaria. If you report a crime you will be asked to make a denuncia, an official statement, which is essential if you wish to make an insurance claim.

There are three main types of police in Spain, Policia Nacional, Policia Municipal, and Guardia Civil. In an emergency all of the police forces will help, although there is a distincion between their jurisdiction and duties.

Policia Municipal
Tel: 092
Wear navy and pale blue uniforms. Their jurisdiction is in towns and cities, and they deal with minor matters such as parking and traffic offences.

Policia Nacional

Guardia Civil
